Welcomed to bat first, Afghanistan set the target of 116 runs in 20 overs for India. Ashish Nehra took 3 wickets in 4 overs and was awarded the Man of the Match for his exceptional bowling spins. 
  • 2012 ICC World Twenty20- Again, in the 3rd match of the 2012 ICC T20 World Cup held at Colombo, India clinched a victory over Afghanistan by 23 runs. India scored 159/5 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli scored a half-century of 50 runs in just 39 balls. He was awarded the Man of the Match for his excellent batting. 
  • 2014 Asia Cup- India and Afghanistan met for the 9th match of the Asia Cup at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka on 5th March, 2014. In this battle, the Men in Blue showed their huge dominance over the Afghans, winning the match by 8 wickets. India beat the target of Afghanistan of 160 runs in just 32.2 overs. Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan are the two key players from India. On the other side, from the Afghanistan team, Samiullah Shinwari also scored a half-century with 50 runs in the match.

  • 2017-2018 India v Afghanistan First Test- In 2018, India defeated Afghanistan by 262 runs and an innings in their first ever test match. India invited Afghanistan to their first test match, which India won comfortably. In this match, KL Rahul scored a respectable 54 runs in contributing to India’s unbeaten score of 474 runs, whilst Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay both scored centuries, with Dhawan scoring 107 runs whilst Murali Vijay scored 105 runs.   • 2021 ICC T20 World Cup-  In the 33rd match of the 2021 T20 World Cup held at Abu Dhabi, India once again claimed victory over Afghanistan by 66 runs. India elected to bat first, setting a target of 211 runs for Afghanistan. Although Afghanistan fought hard in the chase, they were only able to muster 144 runs in 20 overs. India had two key players who scored half-centuries in the match; KL Rahul (69 runs) and Rohit Sharma (74 runs).

  • 2022-2023 Asia Cup- The match took place at Dubai, where India ultimately won the match by 101 runs. Virat Kohli scored a century in the match 122 runs, while KL Rahul, captain of the Indian team, contributed with a half-century scoring 62 runs. From Afghanistan, Ibrahim Zadran also scored a half-century with 64 runs in the match.
  • In the 2023 ICC World Cup, India defeated Afghanistan by 8 wickets. Rohit Sharma scored a century with 131 runs off 84 balls. For the Afghan Atalans, Hashmatullah Shahidi scored a half-century with 80 runs.
  • In the 2024 T20 Internationals, India had completely dominatied Afghanistan winning the series 3-0.
