KKR and SRH Announce Player Replacements Ahead of IPL 2026 Season

Reports have emerged that multiple franchises in the Indian Premier League have begun altering their respective squad in preparation for the 2026 season especially since some franchise stalwarts have been shaken by injury. Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad are the two franchises who recently confirmed replacements.

New players have already been announced by both the teams to replace the injured members in their respective squads, which will keep them competitive for the tournament going forwards.

He will be further monitored by the BCCI medical team at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

The signing of Saurabh Dubey comes at a comparatively lower value of INR 30 lakh. Dubey’s left-arm pace could provide KKR with a new bowling variation despite being an unfamiliar name for many IPL audiences. Teams invariably search for bowlers of different shades to make their squad more balanced and Dubey’s inclusion seems to be following that philosophy.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad also announced a major squad update. The franchise replaced Jack Edwards who has been ruled out due to injury with English pacer David Payne. INR 1.5 crore pay for Payne, who comes with plenty of T20 action.

David Payne has featured in one One Day International for England but is perhaps better known for his substantial T20 record. He has played over 200 T20 matches in his career and also taken over 300 wickets, which makes him one of the more seasoned T20 bowlers available. Sunrisers Hyderabad were hoping to get them through their paces as they look to mount a strong campaign in the upcoming season.

These replacements underscore the extent to which franchises must continually navigate unforeseen obstacles like injuries. Squad depth and the ability to bring in able replacements can prove to be a major difference during the course of a long tournament like the IPL.
