1970s to 1990s: Dominance of the Indian Women’s Team 

  • WI Women vs IND Women 1976- The Indian Women’s Team and West Indies Women’s Team played their only test series in 1976. The WI Women’s team toured India for the 6-match test series. Both teams gave tough battles to each other, and the series ended 1-1, with four matches ending in a draw.  The Indian Women’s team won the 4th test match of the series by 5 wickets. Thanks to Sharmila Chakraborty (5 wickets) and Shubhangi Kulkarni (7 wickets), who showed their exceptional bowling skills in the match and led India to win. WI Women’s team defeated IND Women’s team in the 6th test match by an innings. 
  • Women’s World Cup 1993- The first World Cup meeting between the two sides took place in Nottingham on July 20, 1993. The Indian Women’s team won the match by 63 runs. After being allowed to bat first, the Indian women’s team set their opponent a goal of 156 runs in 60 overs. When the West Indies Women’s team came for the batting, they managed to score 92 runs in 48.4 overs and lost the match. Anju Jain secured an innings in the match with 84 runs. 
  • Hero Honda Women’s World Cup, 1997- It was the 11th match of the Women’s World Cup held at Faridabad. In this game, the Indian Women’s team defeated the West Indies team and won the match by 62 runs. The IND Women’s team scored 145 runs in 40 overs. The WI Indies team was unable to beat the target of 146 runs and managed to score 83 runs in 33 overs and lost the match. Purnima Choudhary was awarded the Player of the Match for taking 5 wickets in 8 overs in the game. 

2001 to 2015: Era of Tough Battles: 

  • IND Women vs WI Women, 2004- The West Indies Women’s team was invited to India for the 5-match ODI series. The Indian Team earned a victory over the West Indies by winning 5-0 on their home ground. This established India as the stronger side in limited-overs. Arundhati Kirkire scored a century with 106 runs in the 5th match of the ODI series. She won the Player of the Match award for her excellent batting in the game. 
  • ICC Women’s World Cup, 2009- The Indian team won the World Cup match by eight wickets. India achieved the target of 85 runs in 17.5 overs on the loss of 2 wickets. Thanks to Priyanka Roy’s bowling, India bundled out the West Indies cheaply. Her outstanding performance earned her the player of the match award. 
  • IND Women vs WI Women, 2011- In the year 2011, West Indies toured India for the ODI match. For the first time, the West Indies team made a comeback with full power and won the match by 9 wickets. Stafanie Taylor scored an innings in the match with 85 off 122 and contributed heavily to the win of her team. 
  • WI Women vs IND Women, 2011- Both teams met for their first T20I rivalry in 2011. The West Indies Women’s team toured India for a 3-match Twenty20 series. The Indian Women’s team showed their dominance over the West Indies team by winning 2-1. West Indies won the 2nd T20I match of the series. Jhulan Goswami, Priyanka Roy, and Mithali Raj are some prominent players of the Indian team who showed their phenomenal batting and bowling, and helped their team to win the series. 
  • IND Women vs WI Women, 2012- For the first time, the Indian Women’s team toured the West Indies for the 3-match ODI series. After a long-awaited time, the West Indies won the series by 2-1. It was a proud moment for the West Indies team when they defeated the Indian team on their home ground. The IND Women’s team won the first ODI match by 76 runs. Mithali Raj and Amita Sharma are praised by the fans for scoring phenomenal half-centuries in the match. From the West Indies team, Stafanie Taylor and Deandra Dottin were key players. 
  • Women’s T20 World Cup, 2014- The Indian Team once again showed their strength by winning the 2014 T20 World Cup match by 9 wickets held at Sylhet. The Indian Women’s team achieved the target of 118 runs in 17 overs for the loss of just 1 wicket.

2016 to Recent Matches: 

  • Women’s T20 World Cup, 2016- West Indies triumphed over India in the 18th match of the World Cup by 3 runs. They scored 114/8 runs in 20 overs. Stafanie Taylor, captain of the West Indies team, scored 47 off 45. Deandra Dottin was awarded the Player of the Match award for her amazing batting and bowling in the match. She scored 45 runs and took 3 wickets. 
  • ICC Women’s World Cup, 2017 – It was the 7th match of the World Cup, held at Taunton on June 29, 2017. The Indian team achieved a 7-wicket victory over the West Indies team. India won this match thanks to Smriti Mandhana’s 106 runs. She was awarded Player of the Match for her excellent century. 
  • WI Women vs IND Women, 2019-In 2019, the Indian Women’s Team traveled to the West Indies for the ODIs. In the 1st ODI match in North Sound, the West Indies team earned a dramatic win over India’s Women’s team by just 1 run. It was a heart-stopping win for the West Indies Women on home ground. Stafanie Taylor collected the Player of the Match award after an innings of 94 runs in the match.
  • South Africa Women’s T20I Tri-Series, 2023- These two teams met for the T20I Tri-Series in January 2023, with the Indian women dominating throughout the series, finishing 3 -0. The Indian team was captained by Harmanpreet Kaur during the Tri-series.
  • IND Women vs WI Women, 2024-The West Indies Women’s team toured India for three three-match T20I series, which India won 2-1. The West Indies won the second T20I match by 9 wickets. From the Indian side, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Richa Ghosh were key batters. Hayley Matthews, Captain of the West Indies Women’s team, was named Player of the Match for her brilliant knock of 85 off 47 in the second T20I.
